Lilypie Second Birthday tickers

I have cute winnie the poon fabric for few weeks and was wondering what should I sew for it.

Last month Little Lizard King has Belluvue sewalong and I bought the pattern. However I had online course last month, so I couldn't join in the sew-along.

The pattern has a few fine details like ruffles with straps and elastic back. Lucky I bought gathering footer and it definitely makes gathering much easier and neater too.

Spend a day cutting and taping the pattern, and another 2 days to sew the dress. Finally the dress is completed. It is not perfect, small mistakes here & there. But it is still manageable for a beginner sewist like me.

My twin loves Ellie & Mac Grow with me PJs, and I have sewn the 3rd pair for them!

Hopefully they will not request any new PJs for a period of time so that I can sew more new projects

I have been buying pattern to make dresses for my daughter, so I was thinking to get a pattern for format shirt for my son. He absolutely love formal shirt, even in our hot tropical weather. My favorite Ellie & Mac doesn't have formal shirt for boys, so I search around and saw Westelijk Shirt from The Eli Monster. Everything seems to be well written with beautiful photos taken.

After I bought it, I start printing the paper, taping the paper, cutting the fabric. And this is when I realize she has used recycled photo for her step by step instruction. Which means the photo doesn't tally with the instruction fully. Being a beginner sewist, I spend some time to trial & error.  I emailed her and even seek for help in the Facebook group. No one reply until 4 days later. She did acknowledge that she used recycle photo and will replace them with the correct ones. So far no updates on the revised copy though. Anyway I tried to continue and stuck at the placket and cuff section. In my prospective (as a complete beginner), the photo doesn't show what the instruction is showing. End up I youtube other sewist on how to do it. If anyone happen to be stuck at the same place as I am, and not able to get any help, you can try to Youtube  The Sewpbox. Total lifesaver, or I can throw the pattern away and waste my money.

At the end, the shirt has too much trial and error then I completely throw it away due to frustration. Hopefully when I gain more experience in sewing, I will be brave enough to use this pattern to sew a formal shirt for my boy. Anyway, I bought another formal shirt pattern - Bayfield from The Lizard King. I have used several of their patterns and they do not use recycle photo, their facebook group always been helpful & friendly and their patterns are so beautiful (especially girls' dresses!). The only thing stopping me to buy more is the price. They are more expensive than Ellie & Mac. I will always wait until promotion period before grabbing their patterns! Currently they are having summer promotion so you can use this code - summer30 to get 30% off their patterns!

I have completed another dress for my dear princess.
It is an unicorn dress!

This time round the gathering is much more uniform as
I have bought a gathering footer which makes everything much more easier!

However I find the bodice is kinda plain..
So planning to buy an iron on for it. Most probably an unicorn graphic...

And it is a free pattern!!

New hobby :- Sewing!

My new hobby - Sewing!

Since we are all stuck at home, at least find something new to do which will "benefits" my twin. So when I am doing the thing, they will not disturb me. Since government given us $600, it is a good fund for me to find a basic sewing machine, some accessories and fabrics to start the project.

My girl chose my first project - Be Curious dress (from Ellie & Mac) as well as the fabric.

I have made several mistakes, but remedy it using my own way. You can't really see it from the photo, but you definitely will see it when you hold the dress. For the first project, first try, as long as the dress is wearable, I'm satisfy.

So I decide to try doing it again and this time round, much more less mistakes.

I sew additional mask to match her dress. This is current trend - Lockdown trend. All clothings must have a matching mask 😆

If you are interested in sewing cute little dress, please visit Ellie & Mac. They have various cute dresses for your princess. The pricing is also reasonable and comes with very detailed instruction with photo (and not those recycled ones). Some of the tutorials even comes with video tutorial!!

I have been crocheting Koalas for Australian Bushfire.
All proceeds is donated to Animal Rescue Craft.
I'm using Koala Pattern @ Furls Crochet so if you are interested to crochet some koalas, you can use this pattern too.
It is very easy to follow with photo step by step to guide you 😁

For the yarn, I have used Scheepjes Catona 50 gram.
1 skein is sufficient to crochet a koala so you will not waste on leftover yarn.
I totally love the 100% cotton mercerized yarn as it is sheen and defined.

Below are some of the koalas I have crochet.
As you can see I have add more accessories for them,
like flower on the mummy's head and a bow tie on the dad.
